ABOUT
Why we exist.
Design Disciple exists for followers of Christ to invest and find momentum in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
The focus is on an everyday transformation where your intimacy with Christ is gaining, your purpose is being personalized, and where your natural outpouring of influence begins.
The goal is for the process to help continue the spiritual journey of maturity, so we can truly embrace our place in the kingdom of God. The hope is that everyday, wherever we are, we would step up and be in step with the Holy Spirit. When we know how to do this, we can fully recognize and obey Christ, and therefore live truly fulfilled.
The process of this intentional discipleship is to help guide in a creative, challenging way, so we can open ourselves up to how God wants to work through our specific lives and how He wants us to be the church.
Each step is founded by Truth, spoken in grace, and worked out authentically.
Our values.
Truth/Biblical Foundation (Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Every principle we work out is fully founded on scripture. It is the inerrant Word of God, and therefore has the final say in all things. The Bible provides the thorough guidance and instruction for life, and can be a powerful tool if we allow the Spirit to use it. We seek to make disciples as Christ did.
Grace-Filled (Colossians 4:6; Ephesians 4:29)
When true feelings are shared, challenges are revealed, and truth needs to be spoken. Christ is very clear that we should be protective of each other’s soul. It is very important that in this process you feel your coach/spiritual director is on your side, and even when what is spoken is hard to hear, their approach will be Christ-like.
Authenticity (James 3:14; Proverbs 19:1)
In this coaching process, there may be questions that you are unsure of or do not know how to answer. It is important to know that all that is expected is the honest answer. To deny or give an answer you think that the coach wants to hear, is only limiting your growth. There will be no judgment passed. When we can be honest in where we are at, then we can move forward.
Heavenly Wisdom (James 3:13-18; Matthew 5:13)
Our goal can be different per situation, but as a whole, we always want to fall more in love with Jesus and honour Him in all we say and do. The want is to be the very salt of the world. How can we fight for the truth and the transforming power of God, while making sure we are illuminating Jesus in approach and action. This is learning to surrender to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to move freely within us for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
Katie-Lynn Mansvelt
Katie-Lynn grew up heavily participating in the church world. She decided through all her experiences that the one thing she knew about herself was that she loved Jesus. She went to Kingswood University, and graduated with a BA in Religion Pastoral Major. When graduating, Katie-Lynn felt it was obedience to turn down a youth pastor opportunity that was presented, and from then on, the Holy Spirit continually affirmed that Katie would not be a shepherd in the way she thought.
As Katie went on the road to speak at different conferences, she started to see a pattern in her conversations. Many people were, and still are looking for the real abundant life that Jesus is offering. People want more of real life change. They want to be authentic in hearing the Holy Spirit, and being able to dance in their unique rhythm that Christ has for their story. There seems to be a hard time in finding the support in not only how to be that, but also how to influence people in the gospel no matter where God has placed you.
Katie-Lynn has a sensitive soul, and combined with her many different high and low experiences, she has a particular love for people. She desperately wants people to know and love the Holy Spirit. She wants them to feel confident that they know how to lay aside themselves, and fully walk in the grace and power of Jesus Christ. Her goal is to walk beside you, as you and her both, lean into what God has in store.
